Assassin's Creed Unveils Bizarre AoT Event for Thanksgiving
In a surprising partnership that challenges usual predictions, Ubisoft has announced an virtual crossover between Assassin's Creed Shadows and the popular anime series Attack on Titan. The surprising holiday event runs from November 25 through December 22, offering complimentary extra story content for Shadows players.
Peculiar Questline Disclosed
According to the authorized release, "A strange meeting draws heroes Naoe and Yasuke into a original quest, where rumors of banned practices and monstrous metamorphoses echo through the obscurity." The narrative introduces a "oddly dressed woman named Ada" who assigns the duo with traveling into the Crystalline Cavern—a important location from Attack on Titan—to rescue her friend from a hidden group.
The questline focuses on "strange trials and a monstrous enemy" and is open to all players who have gained access to the Yasuke character.
Recognizable Places and Transformations
The teaser showcases the Hidden Temple from Attack on Titan recreated as the Crystal Cave. This important location was previously where the Reiss royal family transmitted the Founding Titan ability through ages. The trailer concludes with a striking sequence showing a character, presumably the prisoner, changing into a Titan that looms over Naoe and Yasuke.
Unique Prizes and Additional Content
Players who successfully complete the quest will receive an exclusive katana alongside multiple artifacts concealed throughout the area in hidden chests. The update also includes premium Attack on Titan item packs, featuring:
- Titan-inspired attire for Yasuke
- Mikasa attire for Naoe
- Special weapons
- Survey Corps steed
Latest Free Story Content
This update also adds the game's newest no-cost story episode, titled "The Enigma." This humorous mission pairs Naoe and Yasuke as they exchange characteristic abilities: Naoe introduces a theatrical version of Yasuke's war kick, while Yasuke learns non-fatal stealth takedowns. Faithful to its name, "The Enigma" also includes a fresh environmental puzzle that may ultimately explain some unanswered questions from the main storyline.
Past Japanese Animation Collaborations
This marks scarcely the first time the Assassin's Creed franchise has partnered with popular anime properties. The series earlier showcased a 2020 collaborative story uniting Assassin's Creed: Valhalla with Makoto Yukimura's Vinland Saga. Moreover, Valhalla subtly contained a quest that obviously nodded to the popular series One-Punch Man.
